Line Operation Quality Assurance
Samples and Production Paperwork
- Twice per Shift: Cut samples for a mic sheet (See “Mic Sheet” Page). For 36” and above an ultrasonic gauge can be used for one of the two mic per shift.
- Four Times per Shift: Use the warehouse scale to weigh a pipe. This is to be done on the two pipes intended for mic sheet samples (before the mic samples are cut), and on two additional pipes throughout the shift. Record all weights on Inner Office Production Report and Daily Line Production Report. (See “Inner Office Production Report” Page and “Daily Line Production Report” Page).
- By the End of Every Shift: Make sure the Inner Office Production Report and the Daily Line Production Report (which will include the line’s Run Conditions (See “Run Conditions” Page) and the shift’s two mic sheets for that line) are turned in to the Production Manager.
- For any given day, the production paperwork should include: “Daily Line Production Report” with info from both shifts, the line’s “Run Conditions”, the two “Mic Sheets” from 1st shift, and the two “Mic Sheets” from 2nd shift. The “Inner Office Production Report” is kept separate to be turned in to the Main Office.
Mic Sheets
- To be done twice a shift. Operator and Manager must sign off on mics at end of every shift.
- Take a two-rib sample and label Top, Top-Operator, Operator, Bottom-Operator, Bottom, Bottom-Vacuum, Vacuum, and Top-Vacuum.

- Cut along the white lines and use a micrometer to acquire measurements.

- Enter all measurements in their appropriate slots. Calculate averages. Make sure mic sheet is properly labeled and includes the date, time, and weight of sample.
