Unloading & Storing Mold Blocks

Steps:

  1. Cycle corrugator around to where the “Transition Block or Cuff Block A” is near the mold block exchanger. It will be the first block removed, and it will need to be stored on the end of the pallet as it will likely be the first block loaded on the next changeover. This block will also need to be stored with the “Cuff Blocks”
  2. Turn on Option for Mold Block Change
  3. From the Master screen (Image 2), press the options tab. Next, select the MOLD BLOCK CHANGE OPTION (Image 3)
  4. Press/hold “POSITION MOLD” to perfectly align the block you are attempting to remove. Keep in mind the “Transition Block & Cuff Blocks” will be kept together. All “B” blocks will also need to be kept together, as well as all “A” blocks minimizing mixing them up absolutely as much as possible.
  5. Tap “UNLOAD MOLD” briefly to check and make sure the top & bottom pusher rods are both moving in reverse, and the spreaders are engaged. IF NOT, DO NOT CONTINUE WITHOUT MAINT APPROVAL. If both rods move and the spreaders engage, continue slowly pressing UNLOAD MOLD to push out the mold block as much as possible. You will have to carefully slide the block the remainder of the way until it rests safely on the loading/unloading platform. (See Image 4)
  6. Remove top/bottom gaskets from the mold block
  7. Clean the front, back, and bottoms of the mold block using mineral spirits before putting placing them onto the storage pallets.
  8. If you are removing 24”+ size blocks, you will now use the mold block forks & crane to lift the blocks and carefully place onto the pallet. Smaller blocks can be lifted by hand and placed onto the storage pallets (preferably with 2 people or separating the top/bottom half of the blocks so they aren’t so heavy. If you feel the mold blocks are to heavy to lift by hand, use the crane and mold block forks.
  9. Press/hold “LOAD MOLD” until the pusher rods are back to their original position. (Image 4)
  10. Press/hold “POSITION MOLD” (Image 4) until the next block you are attempting to remove is in the unloading position. Skip every other block to remove all of the “A” blocks or “B” blocks together. NOTE: The 12” and 60” blocks do not have “B” blocks. You will still need to skip every other block!
  11. Repeat steps 4 thru 7 until all blocks are removed.
  12. You will now strap the mold blocks down the pallet using the nylon banding, buckles, and the tensioner. Make sure there are 2 straps on each row of blocks. (Image 1)
  13. If you haven’t already done so, wipe down the tops of the blocks using mineral spirits
  14. Store yellow spacer blocks inside the mold blocks. (Image 1)
  15. Move pallet to storage area.
